The broadcast tower on the summit of Namsan is the most recognisable point on Seoul's skyline and the city's most visited observation deck. The 479-meter elevation combines tower height and mountain base, giving a 360-degree panorama that on a clear day extends to Incheon in the west and Bukhansan to the north. The path up through Namsan Park on foot takes about 40 minutes from Itaewon and is worth doing instead of the cable car — the forest is old-growth pine and the approach itself is one of the better walks in the city.
