Naju Romanesco Route and Pear Orchard (나주 배 과수원·영산강 나루)

📍 Naju-si, Jeollanam-do

Naju in South Jeolla Province is the origin of the Naju pear — the large, sweet variety that is synonymous with Korean gift-season fruit culture — and the Naju pear orchards along the Yeongsan River flatlands are open for autumn harvest visits from September through October. The Naju Romanesco History Cultural Centre documents the town's history as the regional capital of the Goryeo and Joseon periods; the ancient earthen embankments of the Naju fortress survive in the town centre. The Yeongsan River ferry crossing point at Janghwa was historically the principal crossing on the route between Jeolla and the capital; the flat riverside landscape of the Naju basin is distinct from the mountain-dominated Jeolla interior.
