Nakwon Arcade in Jongno is a 1960s elevated commercial building straddling Samil-daero that holds the highest concentration of musical instrument dealers in Korea — over 200 shops selling guitars, brass instruments, keyboards, and specialist music supplies across multiple floors. The building is a time-preserved example of the megastructure commercial arcade typology that flourished briefly in Korean urban development; the market function it was designed for continues unchanged. The surrounding Nagwon-dong area holds music rehearsal rooms, lesson studios, and the recording equipment suppliers that support the instrument retail. The arcade connects at street level to the Insadong antique area nearby.
