Namdaemun to Myeongdong Underground Passage (회현 지하상가)

The underground shopping arcade connecting Hoehyeon station to the Namdaemun area has been operating since 1967 and looks almost unchanged. Long corridors of small shops sell clothes, accessories, tools, and military surplus at prices that haven't kept up with inflation elsewhere. It's cooler than street level in summer and warmer in winter, and the pace is entirely different from the streets above — unhurried, functional, and very Korean.
