The Joseon-era city wall traces the ridge of Namsan for about 5km between Jangchung-dong in the east and Sunghye-dong in the west. The paved path alongside the wall passes through quiet pine forest and gives elevated views over both the Han River side and the northern city. It's separated from the tourist circuit around the tower and most people who walk it are locals doing their evening exercise. The east section near the Jangchungdan Park entrance is the least known and the most atmospheric.
