The hillside neighbourhood of Pyeongchang-dong north of Bugaksan holds one of the highest concentrations of private art museums and artist studios in Korea — the Kim Chong Young Museum, the Gana Art Center, and several smaller gallery spaces sit within a short walk of each other on streets that are otherwise entirely residential. The neighbourhood is accessed by a single winding road that climbs from Gireum station; the area has no pedestrian tourist infrastructure. The views back over central Seoul from the upper residential streets are significant. Best visited on a weekday when the galleries are open and the roads are quiet.
