The neighborhood between Hapjeong and Hongdae stations developed its own identity separate from both — lower rents brought independent bars and cafés that couldn't afford Hongdae, and the canal-adjacent streets give it a quieter atmosphere. The late-night bar scene here is the choice of people who find Hongdae too loud, and the daytime café density rivals the main Hongdae strip at a lower price point.
