Seongdong Wangsimni Area and Culture Base (성동 왕십리 문화 기반)
The Wangsimni area in Seongdong-gu has undergone significant redevelopment since the 2000s while retaining several layers of its former industrial and market character. The Wangsimni Square development sits above the transit hub; the Majang Meat Market below supplies the largest concentration of beef merchants in Seoul within a single covered facility. The eastern Seongdong area toward Haengdang-dong holds the artisan and small-manufacturer streets that predate the Seongsu cafe transformation and represent a continuation of the district's working industrial character. The view from the upper floors of the Wangsimni development over the Han River rail bridge and the eastern Han basin provides context for the area's historic transport significance.
