Taebaek Hwangji Pond Cloud Sea Village

📍 Taebaek, Gangwon-do

A natural spring-fed pond at the source of the Han River on top of the Taebaek Mountains, surrounded by a village famous for its cloud seas that roll through at dawn. The wooden guesthouses in the village still run coal-burning ondol (floor heating) in winter. The nearest city is over an hour away, giving the area a truly remote feel despite being technically accessible by rail.
