Woljeongsa Fir Forest Path (월정사 전나무 숲길)

The approach road to Woljeongsa Temple in Odaesan National Park is lined with a 1-kilometre double row of Korean fir trees that are among the oldest and tallest in Korea. The canopy closes completely overhead and the filtered light in the fir forest — particularly in the early morning and late afternoon — is unlike anything available in the Seoul day-trip radius. The temple at the end of the forest road is a significant Silla-era institution; the nine-story stone pagoda in the main courtyard is one of the most complete Goryeo pagodas in Korea. The forest walk and the temple visit together take about two hours.
