Wolchulsan National Park in Yeongam, South Jeolla Province, is the smallest national park in Korea by area but among the most dramatic in terms of rock character — the granite ridge provides a continuous scramble along exposed rock above the Yeongam Plain with views over the Yellow Sea island chains. The suspension bridge at 510 metres between Cheonhwangbong and Gujeongbong is the highest in Korea. The approach from Cheonhwangsa Temple to the summit via the Cloud Bridge takes about two and a half hours. The park's setting above the flat agricultural plain of the Yeongam valley gives the granite ridge a visual prominence that mountains embedded in mountain ranges do not have.
