The Yeonnam-dong grid quiets down mid-week and peaks on Saturday evenings when the restaurants fill first and the bars open after. The neighborhood has a density of independently operated restaurants — Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, modern Korean — at prices that track a few steps below Hongdae despite being adjacent. Walking the full grid from the Gyeongui forest path west takes about an hour and the discovery ratio is high. Several places don't have signs.
