Seoul’s Secret Hydrangea Garden in May: Byeolbit-naerincheon, Sillim (Free Entry)
While most of Seoul’s hydrangeas don’t bloom until June, there’s one place where you can see them in full color right now in May — and it’s free. Byeolbit-naerincheon Hydrangea Garden in Sillim-dong is one of Seoul’s most underrated spring spots, officially created by Gwanak District Office as a community bloom park.
What Makes It Special
Unlike natural hydrangea spots that only open in June, this streamside garden uses potted hydrangeas to create a lush display several weeks early. The variety is impressive — blue, purple, pink, and white blooms line the walking path along the stream, with photo zones including a towering hydrangea tree sculpture and a themed “Gwanaksan wish rock” backdrop.
As of May 17, 2026, the hydrangeas are confirmed at peak bloom. Don’t wait — this is a temporary installation and will be removed after the season.

- Subway: Line 2 → Sillim Station, Exit 5 → 5 min walk (370m)

About Byeolbit-naerincheon
“Byeolbit-naerincheon” (별빛내린천) means “starlight-falling stream” in Korean — a poetic name for this Dorimcheon tributary that flows through Sillim-dong. The stream path has been redeveloped as a safe, illuminated night walk, making it a lovely spot even after dark.
