The northwest gate of Seoul's Joseon-era city wall, and the starting point for the Bugaksan ridge trail — the most dramatic and least-visited section of the full Seoul City Wall walk. The trail runs along the crest of Bugaksan (342m), which served as the northern natural boundary of the old capital. It was closed to the public for over 40 years due to its proximity to Cheong Wa Dae and only reopened in 2006. ID required for registration at the gate. The views from the ridge across the city to Namsan are exceptional. The section takes 2–3 hours; the descent can be combined with a walk through Buam-dong's café neighbourhood.
