The preserved home and study of Han Yongun (1879–1944), the Buddhist monk, independence movement activist, and poet whose collection "Silence of Love" is one of the most celebrated works in Korean literature. The house sits in a quiet corner of Seongbuk-dong, uphill from Gilsangsa Temple. The wooden structure is small and atmospheric — the study where Han wrote during the Japanese colonial period has been restored with period furniture. Entrance is free. Almost no foreign visitors find it; the neighbourhood around it, with its old walls and narrow lanes, is worth wandering in its own right.
