The road and cycling path circling Uiam Lake in Chuncheon passes through the pine-covered lakeside that has made Chuncheon the primary inland water tourism destination for the Seoul metropolitan area. The full circuit is approximately 22 kilometres by bicycle; the shorter lakeside sections accessible on foot connect the Chuncheon city waterfront to the quieter pine forest zones on the western shore. The lake is formed by the Uiam Dam on the Soyang River and the combination of the mountain backdrop, the clear lake surface, and the pine forest produces a consistent visual quality that differs from the Han River parks south of Seoul. The ITX Chuncheon train makes the city a practical day trip.
