Gapyeong Rail Bike

📍 Gapyeong-ri, Gapyeong-eup, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do

The route runs along a decommissioned rail line following the North Han River through tunnels and over small bridges — terrain that a road or hiking trail simply cannot access. The four-person pedal carts are slow enough to stop and photograph herons standing in the shallows below. The 8-kilometer stretch between Gapyeong station and Gugok station takes about 90 minutes at a relaxed pace. Unlike most Korean tourist rail bikes, this route passes through a long unlit tunnel with LED lighting, which sounds gimmicky but is genuinely atmospheric. Book online at least two days ahead on weekends; weekday mornings are walk-up friendly and significantly quieter.
