Gwangmyeong Cave and Former Silver Mine (광명 동굴·옛 은광)
Gwangmyeong Cave is a former silver and gold mine that operated under Japanese colonial administration from 1912 to 1972 and has been developed since 2011 into an underground cultural complex — art installations, a wine cellar, a bat habitat, and a cave ecology zone within a mine tunnel system extending 7.8 kilometres into the hillside. The combination of the industrial heritage, the cave geology, and the contemporary art use gives the site a character that is entirely different from natural cave attractions. The cave maintains a year-round temperature of 11-12 degrees Celsius and is one of the preferred summer destinations from Seoul given the reliable cool.
