Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek US Military Base Surrounding (평택 캠프 험프리스 주변)
Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek is the largest US military base in Asia — the relocation of US Forces Korea from Yongsan to this campus completed in 2017 brought approximately 30,000 US military personnel and dependents to the area. The surrounding Pyeongtaek city district — particularly the Anjung-ri area adjacent to the original base and the new commercial development around the expanded installation — represents the most evolved US military community surrounding economy in Korea, with a 60-year history of service to the soldier population. The area gives a direct encounter with the US-Korea alliance in a completely commercial and social context.
