Haeundae Beach in Busan is the most visited beach in Korea — 1.5 kilometres of fine sand facing open water with the Dalmaji Hill residential ridge to the east and the Centum City skyline to the west. The early morning visit before 8 a.m. catches the beach at its only quiet moment: the sand raked, the sea calm, and the beach in its natural state before the parasol and food vendor operations open. The surrounding Haeundae district holds the Marine City high-rise seafront development, the Busan Cinema Centre (designed by Coop Himmelblau, venue for the Busan International Film Festival), and a concentration of high-end seafood restaurants that serve the morning catch from the adjacent trawler harbour.
