Jongmyo Shrine

Jongmyo Shrine is the ancestral royal shrine of the Joseon dynasty — a UNESCO World Heritage site where the spirit tablets of Joseon kings and queens are housed in a long, low hall set in a forested compound. The annual Jongmyo Daeje ceremony in May is the most important traditional ritual still performed in Seoul.
