Connected to Yeosu by a 768-meter breakwater causeway you walk across, Odongdo Island is one of Korea's best winter destinations — its camellia trees (3,000 of them) bloom January through March when the mainland is grey and dormant. The island is small enough to circle in 45 minutes but the forest paths wind through dense canopy that blocks all city noise. There's a small lighthouse at the far end and a cave that cuts through the rocky coastline to the open sea. Locals come on winter weekends specifically for this — bring a thermos of something hot and walk the forest road rather than following the main paved path that tour groups take.
