Sokcho Beach runs along the lagoon entrance channel where Cheongchoho Lake meets the East Sea — an unusual geography that gives the beach a double-sided character with calm lagoon water on one side and open sea on the other. The Yeonggeumjeong pavilion on the rocky outcrop at the southern end of the beach gives an elevated view over the entire Sokcho coastline and the Seoraksan summit behind the city. The surrounding Sokcho port area holds the fresh seafood restaurants that supply the fish caught daily from the East Sea, with ganjang gejang, steamed crab, and raw fish typical of the Gangwon coast.
