Odongdo Island in Yeosu harbour is connected to the mainland by a 768-metre breakwater walkway and holds a dense camellia forest of over 3,000 trees that blooms from December through March — the largest natural camellia concentration in Korea. The island circuit takes about an hour through the tunnel, the cliff path, and the lighthouse point. The camellia bloom period — when the red flowers carpet the forest floor beneath still-green canopy — is one of the most distinctive seasonal spectacles in the Jeollanam-do coastal area. The ferry connection from the Odongdo wharf to the Dolsan Island shore gives an alternative return route with sea-level views of the harbour.
