대구 달성군 도동서원 유교학당

📍 Dalseong-gun, Daegu

One of Korea nine designated UNESCO Seowon (Confucian academies) sits in Dalseong county outside Daegu, overlooking the Nakdong River bend. The complex of wooden buildings was preserved because it survived Japanese colonial policies. Early morning visits before tour buses arrive reveal the site in peaceful silence. The pine grove behind the main hall is unchanged from the 1600s.
