Korea's karst interior is most dramatically visible underground, and Gosu Cave is the best-accessible example in the country. The cave system extends 1.7 kilometers and took 450 million years to form — the stalactites and flowstone formations are genuinely impressive even for people who have seen caves before. What sets this apart is the cold microclimate inside (constant 9-11°C year-round), making it a summer escape that Koreans have used for decades. The lighting has been improved in recent years without becoming garish. The surrounding valley has the kind of calm that Danyang's riverside development doesn't always preserve.
