Chungju Suanbo Hot Spring (충주 수안보 온천)
Suanbo Hot Spring in Chungju is one of Korea's three great natural hot springs (alongside Onyang and Bugok) — a naturally rising alkaline hot spring at 53 degrees Celsius that has been continuously used since the Joseon period. The spring water is soft, clear, and naturally carbonated and the spa facilities in the resort area around the spring town are notably better value than the Seoul spa district equivalents. The surrounding Woraksan National Park above Suanbo provides mountain hiking; the combination of the hot spring accommodation and a day hike to the Wolaksansanseong mountain fortress ridge is a natural two-day Chungju programme.
