Uirimji in Jecheon is one of the three oldest irrigation reservoirs in Korea, constructed during the Three Kingdoms period (estimated 1st-3rd century CE) and continuously maintained as a functional agricultural water storage site for over 1,500 years. The reservoir is now surrounded by a public park and the willow and pine avenues along the embankment are at their most atmospheric in spring and early summer. The Yeongho-Rujeongja pavilion on the embankment edge was built in the 19th century and gives the traditional landscape view over the water. The park is accessible from Jecheon city centre in about 10 minutes and functions as the primary public green space for the city's residential population.
