Every major Korean publisher relocated here in the 2000s, and the city commissioned some of the country's finest architects — Seung H-Sang, Kim Joon-sung, Cho Minsuk — to design the warehouses, offices, and bookshops. The result is one of the most architecturally coherent districts in Asia, built entirely around the printed word. Asia Publication Culture & Information Center anchors the district and hosts rotating exhibits. The bookshops stock titles in Korean you genuinely cannot find in Seoul. Foreigners almost never come here; it appears on no standard tour itinerary. The best time to visit is a weekday afternoon when the publishing district is quietly at work around you.
