Chuncheon is the origin city of dakgalbi — iron-plate stir-fried chicken with gochujang, cabbage, and sweet potato — and the Myeongdong Dakgalbi Street in central Chuncheon has been the primary address for the dish since the 1960s. Several restaurants on the street have been operating under the same name and in the same building since the original dakgalbi operations. The dish is served on a tabletop iron plate in the centre of the table, and the finishing option of fried rice in the remaining sauce is essential. The Chuncheon style has a distinctly different sauce balance and vegetable ratio from the Seoul franchise versions. Accessible from Seoul by ITX train in 70 minutes.
