Damyang Juknokwon Bamboo Garden (담양 죽녹원)
Juknokwon (Bamboo Garden) in Damyang occupies a hillside above the town with 2.2 kilometres of walking paths through a dense grove of moso bamboo reaching 15-20 metres in height. The bamboo canopy creates a filtered green light environment and the sound of the bamboo moving in the wind gives the walk an acoustic character found in no other Korean landscape. The surrounding Damyang area is Korea's primary bamboo production region and the town holds the Metasequoia Road — a 8.5-kilometre avenue of mature metasequoia trees along the former national road — that is one of the most photographed tree avenues in Korea in any season. The combination of the bamboo garden and the metasequoia avenue makes Damyang a complete half-day or full-day destination.
