Art Valley in Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do, is a former quarry site transformed into a cultural space — the granite quarry walls surrounding an emerald lake (Cheonjuho) now serve as an outdoor performance venue and sculpture park accessible by monorail from the parking area. The Hantangang River below Pocheon provides the most accessible basalt gorge landscape in the Seoul metropolitan area — the river flows through a 10-30 metre basalt canyon formed from Quaternary volcanic activity, and the rafting routes through the canyon are the only basalt gorge rafting in Korea. The Sundam Valley section near Pocheon town gives the best walkable canyon access.
