Naerin Stream in Inje County is the primary whitewater rafting destination in Korea, a 52-kilometre run through the Sobaeksan valley with class 2-3 rapids accessible to beginners alongside more technical sections for experienced paddlers. The valley holds one of the most intact forested river landscapes in Gangwon-do; the surrounding Bungeo and Bangtaesan mountains give the canyon walls a height that is absent from the lower Gangwon river valleys. The rafting operations run from June through September; the valley walk below the rafting sections is accessible year-round. The Baedam Valley section to the south adds a steep-sided gorge walk accessible on foot.
