Sejong Center for the Performing Arts

📍 175 Sejong-daero, Jongno-gu, Seoul

Korea's flagship performing arts venue, sitting on Sejong-daero directly across from Gwanghwamun Square. The main hall seats 3,321 — one of the largest in Asia — and hosts the Seoul Philharmonic, Korean National Opera, and touring international companies. The stepped plaza in front functions as public space and is the main stage for outdoor performances during events like the Hi Seoul Festival. The M Theatre and Chamber Hall run smaller productions year-round. Tickets are widely available online and significantly cheaper than equivalent venues in Europe or Japan. The building dates to 1978; a major renovation in 2023 updated the interiors.
