The streets running south from Sungshin Women's University station through the Dongseon-dong neighborhood hold a compact café district that developed organically around the student population and has maintained a more relaxed pace than the comparable strips in Hongdae or Sinchon. The independent cafes here tend to stay open later and have more study-oriented seating than tourist-facing venues. The surrounding residential streets are quiet on weekends and the combination of the hill topography and the older apartment stock gives the area a character that predates the contemporary Seoul café scene.
