Wando Cheonggaedo Island Walk (완도 청산도 슬로길)
Cheonggaedo Island off Wando in South Jeolla Province is designated Korea's first Slow City and the island circuit walking trail (Slow Way) runs 42 kilometres through the island's barley terraces, stone-walled fishing villages, and coastal clifftops. The barley terraces in spring — when the entire island is bright green — provided the filming location for the Korean drama Spring Waltz and have drawn spring visitors since the 2000s. The ferry from Wando takes about 50 minutes; the island accommodation allows overnight stays. The Gugaeng Port village and the terraced landscape of the interior are the defining images. The island operates on a genuinely slower pace than the mainland Korean tourism economy.
