The hillside residential streets of the Jegi-dong area in Dongdaemun-gu hold a mural circuit that developed from a neighbourhood renewal project and has expanded over the years with contributions from local and visiting artists. Unlike the more visited Ihwa-dong murals, this circuit is genuinely embedded in a working residential neighbourhood and the art sits alongside the everyday life of the residents without tourist infrastructure. The steep alley streets give abrupt views over the Cheonggyecheon corridor and Dongdaemun market district to the south. Best explored in the late afternoon when the angle of light catches the painted walls.
