구단병 절벽
One of the four official Wonders of Danyang, Gudanbyeong is a stretch of pale limestone cliff face that drops sheer into the South Han River for about 350 meters. The cliff was the subject of countless Joseon-era paintings and poetry — scholars would climb here and write verse about the view, which is still very much intact. The access path is uneven and the site has minimal facilities, which is precisely why it remains uncrowded. The rock surface has been naturally sculpted by water erosion into ridges and overhangs. A small pavilion at the top gives a viewing angle that explains why painters kept returning. Best visited mid-autumn when the vegetation along the cliff face turns.
