The Suncheon Bay National Garden is the first and only nationally designated garden in Korea, established on reclaimed land adjacent to the Suncheon Bay estuary with themed international garden sections, a large domestic plant collection, and managed wetland areas connecting to the natural reed bed ecosystem beyond. The garden and the adjacent Suncheon Bay Wetlands Reserve together form the largest coastal wetland ecosystem in Korea that is both protected and publicly accessible. The two sites are linked by an eco-tram through the buffer zone. The Reed Sea in autumn — the golden reed beds seen from the Yongsan Observatory above the estuary — is the defining visual of the entire Suncheon area.
