Korea in May 2026: The Complete Events & Festival Calendar
May is Korea’s peak season. The weather is perfect — warm without the summer humidity, clear skies, and everything still fresh green after spring. It also carries two national holidays in a single week: Children’s Day and Buddha’s Birthday (both May 5 in 2026), which means festivals, concerts, and cultural events pile up across the entire country.
This is our full breakdown of what’s happening in Korea throughout May 2026 — pulled directly from the knewsdaily events database. Whether you’re already in Korea or planning a visit, this is your calendar for the month.
🗓 Early May (May 1–5) — The Golden Week
The first week of May is the closest thing Korea has to a national holiday cluster. Children’s Day (May 5) and Buddha’s Birthday (May 5, 2026) falling on the same date means five days packed with events everywhere from Seoul to the southern coast.

Worth the trip from Gwangju.
